The Process of the "Riverbed" Mosaic Table

This mosaic project is a donation for the Artitude Auction that benefits the Wellness Community of Knoxville.  My
assignment was to artistically refinish a second hand piece of furniture.  I chose a sturdy oak table with a drawer. I All of
the river rock tiles are ceramic, created from slabs of clay.  Each one is unique, cut out one at a time and hand smoothed
at the edges.  The "rocks" are then bisque fired, glazed and then fired again.  Some stones are accented with glass to
give them a "geode" look.  After the riverbed was glued, the shore was created from a variety of stained glass, each piece
custom cut to fit.  I did not use a pattern, but instead cut each piece to fit the previously glued pieces. After the glue dried, I
grouted the entire mosaic with a rich chocolate brown grout to make the colors really pop.  The table was then cleaned
and sealed so it is ready for use. Here is the process of what I created:
